Comme qui dirait “Matibon, c’est bon”. Et en effet, être second vin d’un Cru Bourgeois ça a du bon ! Matibon de Château Baudan est le second vin du Château Baudan Cru Bourgeois en Listrac Médoc.
Ces deux vins sont des recettes de femmes : fruités, parfumés, au caractère ferme mais qui s’exprime avec douceur. Mme Blasquez, la propriétaire du domaine et winemaker, est une excellente communicante. Elle me parle de ses vins comme de ses deux filles, tout en me montrant les photos de son (très jolie) domaine.

Puis les vignes tout autour de la demeure… on a planté les jeunes pieds jusque devant la maison. On les voit quand on prend le petit déjeuner.”
Ça donne envie de lui apporter les croissants tous les matins !
Revenons au vin. Le Matibon de Château Baudan est déjà très appréciable à l’ouverture : bouteille lourde, bouchon de qualité et effluves de confiture. Au nez, ce vin sent la cerise. Au goût, on retrouve de la grenadine (fraise et framboise) franche et une bonne acidité qui vient équilibré les fruits mûrs. Ce vin est frais, léger et agréable à boire, jusqu’à la finition poivrée. Un peu court à mon goût. Le tanin est léger et porte bien l’acidité.
Je l’ai dégusté avec une recette chinoise de poulet caramélisé. Un beau mariage estival.

Both wines are made by a woman: fruity, fragrant, but a strong character which express softly. Ms. Blasquez the domain owner and winemaker, is an excellent communicator. She talks about her wines as her two daughters, while showing me pictures of her (very nice) domain.

Back to the wine. The Matibon de Château Baudan is already very significant at opening: heavy bottle, cork quality and aroma of jam. On the nose, this wine smells of cherry. In taste, there is frank grenadine (strawberry and raspberry) and good acidity that comes to balance the ripe fruits. This wine is fresh, light and pleasant to drink, until the peppery finish. A bit short for me. The tannin is light and go properly with the acidity.
I tasted it with a Chinese recipe of caramelized chicken. A beautiful summer wedding.
